Pediatric Allergy Testing, Dearborn
Our board certified physicians and highly trained staff perform skin allergy testing on children as young as 2 years old. Skin allergy testing is the gold standard for determining what your child is allergic to. We test for a wide variety of environmental allergies (dust, mold, tree pollen, pet dander, etc…) and food allergies (milk, rice, wheat etc…). Our staff love children and will do their best to make the experience comfortable for your child. No needles are used during the testing process.
In children under the age of six, allergy testing is performed on the back. In children seven and older, it may be performed on the forearms. Application of 24 – 40 common allergens is performed rapidly in less than one minute and the sites are observed for a period of twenty minutes. Bringing a book or a toy for the child to play with is encouraged.
NOTE:
Please do not let your child take any anti-histamines for 72 hours prior to the allergy test. Anti-histamines can effect the results of the test. Please note, anti-histamines can be found in many common over the counter medications. Also, do not take any Beta-Blocker blood pressure medication for the 24 hours prior to the test. Please consult with your primary care physician or cardiologist prior to stopping any blood pressure medications.
