About Ear, Nose, and Throat Allergy

Allergy plays a very prominent role in Ear Nose and Throat disorders: Chronic sinusitis, otitis media, Eustachian tube dysfunction, chronic otitis externa, adenotonsillar hypertrophy, nasal polyps, Meniere’s disease, dizziness and vertigo, recurrent laryngitis, angioedema, esophagitis, and many others all have the potential for allergic etiologies.  Our office provides our patients one destination for their nasal, sinus and allergy concerns; be they structural and/or inflammatory, we are able to make the correct diagnosis and provide the optimal treatment.

Ever since the 1940’s and 50’s allergy has been understood to be a critical part of the otolaryngic evaluation.  The American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) was founded in 1941 and has over 2000 members of which our physicians and nurses have fellowship status  (FAAOA) and/ or are members. Through this national membership, our staff are continually abreast of the most up to date diagnostic and treatment programs with regard to this field.

Comprehensive food, inhalant, and penicillin allergy testing is performed in our office for both adult and pediatric patients. Our testing methods provide quantitative results allowing us to determine not only what allergies are present but also their severity. Treatment may range from environmental and dietary modifications, to medications, and if necessary immunotherapy.
